African-American Art

The following sites want to give you some insight into the various kinds and different flavors of African American Art.

Who are „we“?

We are the class 10b of 2001/02 at the Katharinen Gymnasium of Ingolstadt, Germany and our English teacher, Mrs. Lurz.

Why did we do it?

Because Mrs. Lurz made us do it and because once we got to the subject, we found it was really interesting, because there were so many things we had thought we knew but then found we didn’t: e.g. did you know that Graffiti is an African American art, too?

What, by the way, did we do?

Starting from the schoolbook Green line 6, Klett Verlag, we spent one lesson browsing through the net and getting on the nerves of several searching machines in order to gain some knowledge about the different fields of African-American art. Afterwards, we got together in groups and spent the next 5 lessons or so in the computer lab, collecting information about our special field and creating our own special site we now hope you find interesting and entertaining.

Now, click on any field you are interested in; every site has at least one link leading you to another site of this project:

Rap Music by Fabian, Christine, Dominik, Andreas, Alex

Jazz by Harald, Thomas, Christian, Markus

Black Poetry by Benny, Felix, Felix, Max

Visual Arts by Anastasia, Emöke, Maria, Olga

Graffiti by Conny, Sabrina, Bernhard, Tobias

Black film by Anna, Blanka, Dominika

Note: this site does not lay claim to provide full coverage of this topic, as this would be a futile undertaking. Rather it shows the results of our browsing through the www, the things that roused our interest, plus, for your further and more detailed information, a number of links to related websites, for whose contents of course we do not take any responsibility.
